01

In the Linux kernel, the following vulnerability has been resolved: qede: fix out-of-bounds check for cqe->len_list[] Move index check before element access.

02

Engine v0.6.0

Risk summary

A network-adjacent attacker can send crafted packets to a host using a QLogic qede NIC to trigger an out-of-bounds read in the TPA receive path. This can leak kernel memory and potentially crash the kernel.

Affecteddrivers/net/ethernet/qlogic/qede/qede_fp.c (qede network driver)

Vulnerability analysis

The qede driver's TCP packet aggregation path processes incoming network data using a fixed-size array of segment lengths from a hardware completion queue entry. The code checked the array element value before confirming the index was within bounds, so a malformed completion entry lacking a zero terminator caused reads beyond the array. The fix reverses this order so the bound check happens before any element access. This is reachable by an adjacent attacker sending packets to a host with a QLogic qede network adapter; no privileges or user interaction are required.
